“I love that I can come on Sunday or come to meetings and people genuinely care about what's going on in my life.  It's been a great place to meet and connect with new people and really build friendships that are very important to me.”

What We Are About
In the fall of 2007, Jeremy Johnson came on board at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater, MN with one question, “How do we create a community that will pull disillusioned 18-35 year olds back into the church?”  While brainstorming ideas, Jeremy met Jason Herd, regular Trinity musician who fit that demographic and had similar views. Together they began to dream up what has now become the Source Worship community.

What started as dreaming and visioning became a reality in January as a small group gathered to form a launch team. This group met frequently over the winter and spring and The Source began to take shape.

April 13, 2008 was the first of five preview services designed to build momentum and excitement in the community.

Jason Herd
I’m a rock drummer and when I was in high school, despite listening to Nirvana and Pearl Jam, I was pretty serious about wanting to play music in church.  I grew up in a church that was very apprehensive to contemporary styles of worship music, and they looked at what I was doing and wondered how it could ever be used in worship to glorify God.  As a result I spent a lot of my teens and early 20’s thinking that God didn’t have room for me in Church and I went my own way. I reached a serious low point in my mid 20’s.  I was ready to put away the sticks and take a great job that would have offered a lot of security.  Something just didn’t feel right about it.  I spent a few months in prayer and God left a serious impression with me that I needed to keep on pursuing music.  It seemed crazy but I did it. I went back to music school in the Twin Cities and was quickly plugged into the local Christian music scene.  This led to me drumming at Trinity and eventually getting plugged into the Source community. At the Source we want to let people know that God does have a place for them and their gifts despite what they may have been told or what impression the church has left them in the past.  Come and contribute to a new kind of worship.  Look forward to seeing you soon..
