About the Process
A pastoral transition within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is a structured process that involves several key phases, including the ending of the previous pastor's ministry, self-study and visioning by the congregation, the call process for a new pastor, and the welcoming of the new leader. This process is guided by the ELCA synods and involves various individuals and committees, such as the Congregation Council, Call Committee, Interim Pastor, and Transition Team, with the ultimate goal of ensuring a healthy and prayerful transition into a new season of ministry.
